Connect and manage bank accounts

What happens between connecting a bank and seeing your data.

Your institution has to be supported in the country you choose when you start the connection. Connecting a bank and fetching fresh bank data require Nora Plus, including a valid trial or active launch grant. Existing stored data and manual finance remain available without Plus.

How to do it

  1. Choose Connect an account from Home, or open Settings > Connections and add an account.
  2. Work through Plaid’s institution, account and permission steps. If you close Plaid before the end, the connection stays unfinished.
  3. After the connection is saved, dismiss the transaction sync notice. Nora adds your bank accounts, then waits for your bank’s historical transactions. Settings > Connections shows the current phase and a percentage after all history has been fetched. If bank update emails are enabled, Nora emails you when the sync starts and when every transaction is ready.
  4. Use Settings > Connections to read attention notices, and to retry an import, sync, reconnect or disconnect where those actions are offered.

Nora saves your bank accounts first, fetches the full available history, then adds transactions in resumable batches. A percentage appears only after fetching finishes. When bank update emails are enabled, the completion email follows canonical transaction creation; the first batch of transactions does not mean the import is complete.

Having trouble?
  • Waiting for historical data is not the same as a failed import. Refresh later, or use the retry action when it is offered in Settings > Connections.
  • No transactions currently available can be a correct result. Some accounts report balances and nothing else.
  • Disconnecting stops future updates. If you also choose to delete the connection data Nora kept, read the separate confirmation carefully.
