Get started with Nora
Connect an account, then read the transactions and spending it brings in.
After signing in, open Help in the sidebar to start an interactive guide.
You need to be signed in to Nora. Type your bank credentials only into Plaid or your bank’s own screens. Connecting a bank and fetching fresh bank data require Nora Plus, including a valid trial or active launch grant. Existing stored data and manual finance remain available without Plus.
How to do it
- When no bank is connected, Home opens the Connect an account welcome once per visit. Not now dismisses it for this visit. After connecting, the Setup guide opens and stays available in the header across workspace pages. Closing it keeps your progress. On mobile, scroll inside the bottom panel. Walkthroughs temporarily replace the checklist; opening Nora Chat closes setup.
- On Home, choose Connect an account, pick your country and carry on through Plaid. Not now leaves it for another time.
- Watch the status move through Connected, Accounts ready and Transactions available. You can read your balances while transactions are still being prepared, and more history can arrive later.
- In Getting started, choose Review to open a transaction, then use the spending action to see the transactions behind it. With a real example, the button may say See transactions rather than Explore.
- In Use AI with your finances, choose Nora, ChatGPT or Claude. This is optional and does not change the three-step progress. For ChatGPT or Claude, read the requirements, copy the server URL and follow the full connection guide. Then try the suggested question. Setup guide stays available after the core steps are complete.
- When those steps are done, open What to explore after setup in Help. It covers budgets, categories, recurring activity and Boards, in whatever order suits you.
The three essential steps finish when you connect an account and then open a transaction and its spending evidence yourself. Chat stays optional. The checklist shrinks to a short confirmation and then goes away, either when you dismiss it or in a later tab session. You never have to edit financial data that is already correct. The header Setup guide remains available, including optional AI setup.
Having trouble?
- If the Home cards fail to load, the action for connecting an account is still there.
- If an import needs attention, open your profile menu, then Settings, then Connections. Retry the saved connection where Nora offers it, and do not reconnect just to restart an import.
- On iPhone, open Nora in Safari and choose Share > Add to Home Screen. Nora uses its light icon. If an older shortcut shows a plain letter instead, delete that shortcut, refresh the website and add Nora again.
